Leinster Club SFC/Wolfe Tones 0-12 St Josephs 0-6: Meath side Wolfe Tones proved too good for Louth's St Joseph's in a scrappy Leinster club football opening-round clash at Páirc Tailteann yesterday.

While five of their six starting forwards scored from play for the first-time Meath senior kingpins, Ollie McDonnell was St Joseph's only forward to do likewise. The elusive Cian Ward notched 0-5 of the Tones' tally, including two fine first-half efforts from play.

Niall McLoughlin opened the scoring for Tones, who eased into a 0-8 to 0-3 interval lead. It took St Joseph's 22 minutes to get on the board through the first of Louth midfielder Martin Farrelly's three points from play.
