Robbie Henshaw, Tadhg Furlong and Jack Conan are all set to be in the starting XV for the British and Irish Lions’ first Test when it’s named later today. According to a leaked team in the British media, Iain Henderson, Tadhg Beirne and Conor Murray will also be among the replacements on Saturday. The Springboks named their team on Tuesday, and Gerry Thornley explains: “These Springboks may have had a decidedly troubled build-up and be the most under-cooked World Cup champions to host the Lions of all time, but if ever a team could play on muscle memory it’s this one.” All four provinces will again go into the draw for next season’s Champions Cup which takes place in Lausanne, Switzerland at 12.00pm (Irish time).

Ange Postecoglou’s tenure as Celtic boss began with an incident-packed 1-1 draw with Midtjylland as both sides ended the Champions League qualifier with 10 men. New signing Liel Abada, the 19-year-old Israeli winger, marked his competitive debut by scoring in the 37th minute only for defender Nir Bitton to be sent off late in the first half for picking up the second of two yellow cards. Barcelona are now the club where everyone can be sold off except Messi who can’t yet be signed up. Read here about the mess the Catalan giants find themselves in this summer.
