On November 24th, 1990, Germany captured its first, major sporting trophy as a united country. Success came in the World Cup at Grand Cypress Resort, Orlando, where Bernhard Langer partnered Torsten Gideon to a three-strokes win over Ireland (David Feherty and Ronan Rafferty) and England (Mark James and Richard Boxall) in a share of second place. The tournament was also notable for the individual victory of the late Payne Stewart and for a course-record, last round 63, which gave Feherty a share of third place. Interestingly, Langer and Gideon both had the same individual scores, for a share of fifth place.

TEASER: A player touches the line of his putt in brushing aside loose impediments with his cap or with a towel. Is this permissible?

Answer: No. Such action is a breach of Rule 16-1a, which permits the player to touch his line of putt in removing loose impediments only with his hand or a club.
