Bray Wanderers 0 Dundalk 0BRAY WANDERERS and Dundalk will have to fight it out all over again at Oriel Park on Monday night for a place in the FAI Ford Cup quarter-finals after last night's uninspiring fourth round scoreless draw between the sides at the Carlisle Grounds.

First Division Dundalk had a chance after just 22 seconds when Tiarnan Mulvenna played a clever ball on the left to Jamie Duffy. When his cross was not properly cleared by the Bray defence, veteran striker Trevor Vaughan blazed a shot over the bar from 12 yards.

Then defender David Crawley went close to opening the scoring for the visitors when his 22 yard free was pushed onto the upright by the diving Alan Gough and away to safety. Defender Ray Kenny had a header over the bar for Bray before skipper Alan Cawley had a 25 yard free straight into the arms of Dundalk goalkeeper Chris Bennion.

Premier Division outfit Bray did have a chance of breaking the deadlock on 35 minutes when striker Ger Rowe was taken down by central defender Ben Whelehan. But again Cawley's long-range free was easily collected by the alert Bennion.

Dundalk winger David Cassidy wasted an opportunity on 55 minutes after a glorious midfield ball from Vaughan had opened up the Bray defence. Instead of electing to shoot first time, Cassidy delayed and his tame cross was cleared by Ray Kenna.

Bray were reduced to 10 men when central defender Derek Foran was sent off by Dublin referee Ian Stokes on 59 minutes when taking down Mulvenna in full flight after Cassidy had created the opening. Vaughan sent the resulting free from 20 yards just over the bar.

Taking advantage of their numerical advantage, a Crawley corner for Dundalk on the right caused major problems for the Bray defence only for Whelehan to fail to make contact at the far post.

In the dying seconds of added time Bray wasted a chance when substitute Colm Tresson sliced a shot just wide from 10 yards after a Paul Dunphy cross opened up the Dundalk defence.
