The Ireland Students side secured an impressive win over their under-21 counterparts in a representative fixture at Sydney Parade on Saturday. The students ran in five tries, while the under-21s grabbed three.

The students struck first after 10 minutes when scrumhalf Kieran Campbell put in openside flanker Colm McMahon on the left, outhalf Mark McHugh converting. McHugh grabbed a second try 15 minutes later from a ruck 15 metres out, but missed the conversion. Five minutes before the break, following a swift backline movement, right wing Simon Keogh scored under the posts, and McHugh converted to leave it 19-0 at half time.

The under-21s got on the scoreboard 10 minutes after the break, when Devlin received 25 metres out and sprinted in to score on the left. Replacement outhalf Ian Humphreys converted. The same player was in again 15 minutes later when set up by Humphreys, who converted again.

But the students took the initiative again with tries from fullback Dermot O'Sullivan and replacement centre Fiachra Bains.
