St Mary's of Cork scored a narrow 1-0 win to reach the second round yesterday. The match-winning goal was scored by centreforward Michael McAuliffe on the hour after some good approach play by Ken Sisk and Conor Roche.

Bangor Celtic had the better of the opening half and wasted the game's first scoring chance after 20 minutes.
