ST KIERAN'S, Kilkenny, qualified for the Leinster Colleges hurling provincial final by virtue of a seven-point win over St Peter's, Wexford, at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday.

The Kilkenny college began their road to victory with a goal from Brian O'Shea, who he had been just introduced for an injured colleague. The goal separated the sides at half-time, with St Kieran's leading 1-4 to 0-4.

However, they took command of the match in the third quarter, with goals in the 36th minute from Alan Geoghegan and in the 45th minute from Padge Delaney.

The Wexford college had the consolation of late goals from Barry Gough and Christy McGrath.
