Ronaldo sure deal will go through

Cristiano Ronaldo is sure he will sail through his medical and sign for Real Madrid, despite suffering from a hernia

Cristiano Ronaldo is sure he will sail through his medical and sign for Real Madrid, despite suffering from a hernia. The Portugal international is set to join the Spanish side after Manchester United agreed a record €94million fee with nine-time European champions.

The 24-year-old is currently holidaying in the United States and has insisted he has no fears ahead of being examined by Real doctors in Los Angeles.

"I do not require surgery. The hernia is nothing to worry about," he told Fox Sportsin the US.

"I learned about the deal on holiday and heard that United have accepted. Madrid want to have a medical team look at me, but that's as expected."

Ronaldo added he enjoyed the tug-of-war that that has taken place between the two sides over the last 12 or 15 months.

"It's flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them," he said, before describing the deal as “historic” and the fee as “quite a sum of money”.

Real’s pursuit of Ronaldo was very public and at times aggressive under previous president Ramon Calderon, but despite Florentino Perez’s softer approach of late, weight was added to suggestions it was his predecessor who copper-fastened the deal last year.

Former Real manager Juande Ramos, who was at the helm for six months after being sacked by Tottenham, has said he was sure the deal would go through sooner or later.

"Am I surprised (that Ronaldo is joining Real Madrid)? No, because I knew it would happen at some stage," he told 5 Live.

"We already knew that Real Madrid had a pre-contract agreement with Cristiano Ronaldo and that it was only a matter of time.

"I don't know exactly when that agreement was made, but I do know it was in place."
