Bolton (18) v Everton (5)Nicolas Anelka could be joined in attack by Kevin Davies, who returned to the bench last week after suffering a hamstring injury in the opening day defeat to Newcastle. Andy O'Brien will also be considered but Ricardo Gardner (hamstring) and Joey O'Brien (knee) are still out, while Abdoulaye Faye was expected to complete his move to Newcastle. Record signing Ayegbeni Yakubu is expected to make his Everton debut and loan signing Thomas Gravesen should also be in the squad, which is still without long-term injured pair Tim Cahill and James Vaughan. There are doubts over Alan Stubbs and Lee Carsley, who have muscle injuries.

Fulham (19) v Tottenham (17)

Antti Niemi returns from a wrist injury and will start in goal for Fulham against Tottenham. Chris Baird returns from a one-match suspension, while new signing Dejan Stefanovic should make his debut in defence. Aaron Hughes (ankle), Lee Cook (knee), Hameur Bouazza (shoulder), Brian McBride (knee) and Jimmy Bullard (knee) are still sidelined.

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon is expected to play some part, defenders Michael Dawson (ankle) and Younes Kaboul (hamstring) are back in contention, while striker Darren Bent has returned from thigh problems. Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) will start training next week and Ledley King (knee) remains sidelined.

Liverpool (4) v Derby (20)

Steven Gerrard will not be risked as he continues to recover from a hairline fracture of a toe which has caused him to miss the last two matches. Defender Jamie Carragher (broken rib) is the only other injury.

Derby manager Billy Davies is hoping defenders Claude Davis (rib) and Tyrone Mears (thigh) will be fit. Midfielder David Jones is certain to miss the game thanks to a groin injury. Dean Leacock has picked up a toe injury and will face a late fitness test while an ankle injury means there are also doubts over Benny Feilhaber.

Man Utd (10) v Sunderland (16)

Striker Louis Saha returns to the squad for the first time since sustaining a knee injury against AC Milan in the Champions League last April. Wayne Rooney (broken foot) and Gary Neville (thigh) are again ruled out through injury and Cristiano Ronaldo is suspended but Brazil international Anderson could be involved after a hamstring strain.

New boys Kenwyne Jones and Danny Higginbotham could be included in the squad for the first time. Jones' participation could be delayed by a slight hamstring problem, while Ian Harte is unlikely to be included, and Andrew Cole is short of match fitness. Full-back Greg Halford is suspended after being sent off at Luton in midweek, meaning 17-year-old Michael Kay could be involved, while Paul McShane and Kieran Richardson are doubts with shoulder and back problems respectively.

Middlesbrough (13) v Birmingham (12)

Defender Jonathan Woodgate and midfielder Julio Arca return to the squad having been rested for the Carling Cup tie in midweek, as does striker Jeremie Aliadiere after being knocked unconscious against Newcastle last weekend. Andrew Davies was not so fortunate and will sit out after suffering a head injury in the cup tie.

Goalkeeper Maik Taylor returns to the starting line-up after Richard Kingson's appearance in the midweek Carling Cup tie with Hereford. Captain Damien Johnson, Daniel de Ridder, Franck Queudrue and Rafael Schmitz are all still ruled out

Newcastle (7) v Wigan (3)

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce will assess Michael Owen's fitness after he came through 83 minutes of Wednesday night's Carling Cup victory over Barnsley. Midfielder Emre, who picked up a slight knock on his return from a groin problem, is a doubt, while Peter Ramage (knee), Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro (both hamstring), Joey Barton (metatarsal) and Damien Duff (ankle) are all out.

Marcus Bent goes straight into the Wigan squad after joining the Latics on a season-long loan from Charlton. Rachid Bouaouzan, who yesterday signed a three-year contract after completing a #400,000 move from Sparta Rotterdam, will travel, but is not included in the squad. After making eight changes to the side for the Carling Cup defeat to Hull in midweek, boss Chris Hutchings is likely to revert to the side that drew at West Ham last Saturday, with Antonio Valencia the only doubt with a knee injury.

Reading (15) v West Ham (14)

Reading are set to welcome back defenders Graeme Murty (hamstring) and Nicky Shorey (knee). Striker Shane Long is doubtful because of a broken thumb and wingers Seol Ki-Hyeon (back), John Oster (ankle) and Glen Little (Achilles) are all still sidelined. Defender Ibrahima Sonko (knee) is not yet fit but has trained with the first team for the first time.

Dean Ashton is back for the Hammers after missing the midweek win against Bristol Rovers when his partner went into labour. Alan Curbishley's midfield options were reduced by Kieron Dyer's double leg break against Rovers and Freddie Ljungberg and Scott Parker, while getting back to full fitness, may not make the squad.

Sunday

Arsenal (6) v Portsmouth (8)

Arsenal winger Alexander Hleb (illness) is a doubtful starter and Jens Lehmann is still out with Achilles and elbow problems so Manuel Almunia will continue in goal. William Gallas (groin), Emmanuel Eboue (ankle) and Bacary Sagna (back) remain in the treatment room.

Glen Johnson is set to play right back after signing for Portsmouth in a £4 million move from Chelsea. It will mean Lauren switching to the right of midfield against his former club in place of Gary O'Neil who is joining Middlesbrough in a £5 million move. Redknapp has Pedro Mendes and Nico Kranjcar
fit again — although there is a slight doubt over skipper Sol Campbell, another ex-Arsenal star who dropped out of training today to work with the club's physio.

Aston Villa (11) v Chelsea (1)

Curtis Davies, signed on loan from West Bromwich Albion with a view to a #8.5million deal rising to £10million, is likely to have to put his Villa debut on hold because of a hamstring problem but fellow newcomer Zat Knight will go straight in to the squad. Shaun Maloney is pushing hard for a place in the
starting line up after netting the winner against Fulham and scoring twice against Wrexham in the Carling Cup but keeper Thomas Sorensen and midfielder Patrik Berger are still not fit enough to return.

Frank Lampard has picked up a thigh injury in training and is facing a scan to assess the extent of the damage. Florent Malouda missed part of training this week but Chelsea are hopeful he will be fit. Michael Ballack (ankle), Ricardo Carvalho (leg) and Wayne Bridge (hip) are out, although Bridge has returned to light training. Andriy Shevchenko is fit to make his first appearance of the season.

Blackburn (9) v Man City (2)

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes will bring strike pair Benni McCarthy and Roque Santa Cruz back into his side after the pair were rested for the midweek UEFA Cup win over MyPa. Midfield pair Robbie Savage and David Dunn also return and Hughes is hopeful central defender Chris Samba will shake off the illness which ruled him out in midweek, while he is without Paul Gallagher who has joined Preston on loan.

Manchester City's Brazilian midfielder Geovanni is expected to shake off a calf injury. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could replace Joe Hart between the posts despite the latter's impressive performance in the midweek Carling Cup win over Bristol City.
