LOI round-up:St Patrick's Athletic closed the gap on League of Ireland Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers to three points after a valiant comeback at Dundalk's Oriel Park and a point for Derry City at Tallaght Stadium.

Eamon Zayed secured a valuable draw for the Candystripes when he converted James McClean's corner with 21 minutes remaining.

It was the least the visitors deserved after Rovers failed to build on the lead they took in the 25th minute when Garry McCabe's header from Pat Sullivan's cross looped over Gerard Doherty in the Derry net.

Pete Mahon responded by replacing Paul Crowley and Seán Stewart with Shane McFaul and Ian Daly. It paid dividends almost immediately when the latter controlled the ball in the box and fired past Peter Cherrie for a 69th minute equaliser.
