Robbie Keane will miss the north London derby with Arsenal after Tottenham's appeal against his red card for serious foul play against Birmingham was rejected.
The Republic of Ireland striker (27) will now serve a three-match domestic suspension for his dismissal for a challenge on Birmingham's Fabrice Muamba during Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Birmingham.
Tottenham had argued the decision was harsh and that referee Phil Dowd had consulted with the fourth official before producing the red card.
Keane will also miss games against Manchester City and Portsmouth.
