Sunderland have signed Luton midfielder Carlos Edwards in a £1.4million deal.

Edwards joined the Hatters back in 2005 from Wrexham and made 74 appearances, scoring eight goals.

The 28-year-old also performed impressively for Trinidad and Tobago at last summer's World Cup playing all three matches in England's group.

Boss Roy Keane said: "We're absolutely delighted to have captured such a sought-after, top player.

"A lot of clubs have been interested in Carlos, so it's great that he will be here at Sunderland to play his part in getting this club back to the Premiership."
