Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has asked to be allowed to leave Merseyside in a bid to secure his World Cup place in Germany this summer.

The Poland ‘keeper is currently third choice at Anfield behind Spaniard Pepe Reina and Englishman Scott Carson.

Dudek’s heroics in last season’s Champions League made him a favourite of Reds fans but his future lay elsewhere when the club signed Reina from Villareal in the summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports today Dudek said he is determined to leave and that the situation is making him increasingly angry.

"I hope that I will be able to leave because my situation is beginning to make me angry," said the Polish keeper. "I have promised myself that I will do everything to leave.

"My time at Liverpool is over but I can't look for an alternative on my own.

"This week I will meet with Benitez and see what he will let me do. All I want is to find a new club and be able to prepare for the World Cup.

"I'm going to hold a grudge against him if he doesn't let him me go in January.

"I have never been one to make problems and I have made that clear to Benitez.

"I hope on this occasion he'll show me the same respect I show him. I hope that we will be able to talk things through."

Dudek who came from Feyenoord added that he would be willing to return to Holland.  It could well be an option Benitez would warm to if he is still keen on bringing Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt to Anfield.

Benfica, the club of another Liverpool target Simao Sabrosa, was also a possible destination for Dudek in the summer.

Nonetheless the Pole says he is not short of offers and determined to leave the club. "I have several offers but it is very difficult to discuss them before I have spoken to Benitez.

"I could stay in England, there are also offers from Spain as well as Holland and Germany - and I've made it clear that it would be nice to return to Feyenoord."
