Larissa 2-0 Blackburn:  Blackburn suffered a potentially disastrous UEFA Cup first-round first-leg defeat to Larissa, going down 2-0 in Greece.

Mark Hughes' side were caught cold just after the half-hour as the Greek Cup winners struck twice in the space of 90 seconds.

Former Everton striker Ibrahima Bakayoko fired Larissa in front with a deflected 30-yard strike which looped over Brad Friedel, before Cleyton curled home the second after Brett Emerton gave the ball away.

Benni McCarthy had gone close for Rovers on 19 minutes but after taking a throw in on his chest on the edge of the six-yard area his volley smacked into the face of Marco Foerster.

That was about the sum total of their efforts in the first half and it didn't get much better for Hughes' men after the break.

The result leaves Rovers with work to do in the second leg on October 4th.
