AIRTRICITY LEAGUE: PREMIER DIVISION: Sligo Rovers 0 St Patrick's Athletic 0:RICHARD BRUSH produced a moment of magic that saved Sligo Rovers in the first half of this lacklustre game at the Showgrounds on Saturday night.

The Sligo goalkeeper was well positioned to fingertip the ball over the bar as Ryan Guy’s 32nd minute shot was heading for the top corner.

Guy’s effort, following a pacey run along the wing, and a blistering long range shot by John Dillon that flew inches over the woodwork at the other end three minutes before half-time were the only real highlights of the game.

Sligo manager Paul Cooke was pleased with the point. “This was a game we could have lost a couple of months ago. We couldn’t get our passing game going, they were a good side and did a good job on us but it wasn’t a great game”.

Pete Mahon was very happy with the outcome. “This could be an important point for us later on. We gave Sligo too much time and space across the middle on previous visits but we made sure that wasn’t going to happen tonight. I am delighted with the way we came back after the mid-season break,” said the St Patrick’s manager.
