Scottish Premier League: Bobby Robson could still become Hearts manager, but he has told the Scottish club the ball is in their court. The 72-year-old has been strongly linked with the Tynecastle job following the shock departure of George Burley two weeks ago.

However, after chief executive Phil Anderton was sacked and chairman George Foulkes resigned last Monday, the veteran coach appeared to be hesitant over a move to Edinburgh. But Robson insists he has not ruled himself out of the job yet.

"It is still an open book," said the former England manager. "It is a question of how far Hearts want to pursue the matter. I have still got my enthusiasm and my knowledge. I'm in very good condition.

"I want to work - I like working - and I have missed the job in the last year since I left Newcastle. So I am just waiting to see what develops. I am not in a hurry to take the wrong job."

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has been named player of the month for October, still has 18 months to run on his current deal, but is said to be attracting interest from a host of clubs with his eye-catching performances this season.

"I am like every other player at the club," he said. "I have to try to impress the manager and make everybody happy and you don't think about interest from other clubs.

"I have got a contract with Celtic and I enjoy being here so I want to continue winning and making people happy. I know it is an important decision I need to make. I have had conversations with Celtic, but in a few months I will know more and the club will know more.

"I'll be happy (to stay). I have always said I'll be happy to stay here and play for the club. I am trying to win things and make all those 50,000 people happy."

Celtic will be missing first-team regulars tomorrow at Falkirk. Striker Craig Beattie is out for over six weeks after a hamstring tear, while midfielder Alan Thompson is suspended and striker Maciej Zurawski has a hamstring injury.
