ANNEKA RICE caused a stir when she turned up to speak at the launch of cricket's World Cup last week. There to sell the sport to women, Rice began with the argument that cricket is in fact "worse than fishing". She went on to say that the only merit of the one-day international is that it is "finished in time for a gin and tonic and Blind Date". Rice was there as a guest of Outspan, the orange-growing people and sponsors of the competition who were trying to determine how many women were interested in cricket.
