The Irish women’s hockey team open their Investec Cup campaign against Australia in London this afternoon in what will be interim coach Denis Pritchard’s first tournament in charge.
The event is an Olympic warm-up for the Australians, Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and South Africa, Ireland having missed out on qualification against Belgium in March.
The Dutch, ranked at one in the world, came from behind to beat Australia 2-1 yesterday, with Britain later losing 3-1 to South Africa. Ireland play the Netherlands tomorrow, with the final placings in the tournament decided on Sunday.
