Racing News round-upJohn Oxx revealed yesterday that Alamshar could miss out on the Breeders' Cup with a visit to Woodbine for the Canadian International a more likely end-of-season international target.

The trainer made his comments after Saturday's Irish Champion Stakes where Alamshar was a disappointing fourth to High Chaparral.

Oxx said: "He may not have been in love going left-handed at Leopardstown and he was leaning a little bit to the right with Johnny (Murtagh.)

"It may well be that the tight track at Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup Turf (October 25th) would not be his cup of tea so we may abandon that plan.

"We will have to see how Dalakhani does in the Prix Niel at the weekend but if he is in good shape I don't think Alamshar would go for the Arc. It would suit him very well but it may not be on his agenda.

"So probably the only race we can consider is the Canadian International. That is a distinct possibility."

The September festival begins at Galway this afternoon and while Kieren Fallon is a welcome visitor to Ballybrit, the forecasted heavy rain certainly isn't.

Fallon tackles the unique track for the first time since his apprentice days with Kevin Prendergast with two rides for Tom Hogan on Doonaree and Animal Lover.

Doonaree tops the weights in the mile-and-a-half handicap but even with Fallon on his back the Hogan runner may not be able to cope with High Day.

John Murtagh has chosen this Oxx runner who has had just two races. The second of them yielded a short win at Fairyhouse but there is improvement in the horse and wet ground should suit.

Michael Kinane is on Tu Eres Mi Amore in the opener and the rain should suit this Sadlers Wells filly who can reverse Tralee placings with Cocorica.

Kinane can also score with Kiptanui, while Photon could be the value in the apprentice maiden.
