Bring sweets yesterday emerged as a serious challenger for the Triumph Hurdle and in the process provided his record-breaking trainer Martin Pipe with the 3,000th success of career.

Pipe made history last week when becoming the winning-most trainer and achieved another landmark when Bring Sweets obliged at Newbury.

The former smart Flat racer stretched his unbeaten record over jumps to four as he gained a smooth success in the Furlong Club Stroud Green Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.

He strode clear from the final flight in the hands of Tony McCoy to defeat the newcomer Kattegat by three lengths. It was a further three lengths to the disappointing 4 to 9 chance Regal Exit.
