A first-half try from St Columba's College outhalf Adam Philpot, converted by Chris Cahill, proved sufficient to see them through to the Leinster Schools' Section A Junior Cup second round at Belfield yesterday.

The try came in the 10th minute and was followed by a Niall Flynn penalty for St Conleth's. Number eight Simon Kelly and centre Brian Nevin ensured the losers enjoyed the bulk of possession after the break but they couldn't break down a resolute St Columba's defence.
