Women's World Cup:Dorothy Delasin and Jennifer Rosales, ranked 156th and 338th in the world, upset the odds to give the Philippines victory in the Women's World Cup at Sun City in South Africa yesterday.
Trailing South Korea entering the closing stretch, Delasin and Rosales birdied the 15th, 16th and 17th to go two ahead.
The drama was not quite over, though, as world number seven Ji-Yai Shin saw her second shot to the par-five 18th hit the rocks behind the island green and rebound to 40 feet.
With her partner, Eun-Hee Ji, having already hit into the water, it was left to Shin to try to hole for eagle, but after it just missed Delasin, who chipped in on the 16th and holed from 18 feet at the next, made a 20-footer for a two-stroke winning margin.
That meant she and Rosales finished with four successive birdies and were home in 30 for a 65 and 18-under-par total of 199.
South Korea were 16 under, with Japan and Taiwan joint third three shots further back in what became an Asian takeover.
Welsh pair Becky Brewerton and Becky Morgan closed with a 68 for 10 under par and a share of sixth place with hosts South Africa and Canada, while Scots Catriona Matthew and Mhairi McKay were two shots further back in joint 10th place with Americans Juli Inkster and Pat Hurst, last year's runners-up.
England's Trish Johnson and Danielle Masters finished down in 16th place on 213 of the 20 teams.
