Nuig, five times winners, and UUJ, three times champions, will meet in the final of the Collingwood Cup at the University of Limerick this afternoon after victories over UUC and Queen's respectively in yesterday's semi-finals.

In this battle of Ulster colleges, UUJ squeezed through, but not before they were given a fright. In the opening minutes the winners held a strong grip with Dave Patten and Darren Parker testing Queen's goalkeeper, Simon Lyttle.

As the game progressed, Queen's came more into it, with Robin Hunter and Brian Beatty prominent up front. The deadlock was broken after 37 minutes when a goalmouth scramble allowed Patten to find the target.

Eight minutes into the second half Darren Parker made it two-nil with a snap shot. Queen's looked out of it at that stage but Niall Quinn and Paul Mellott began to use their midfield strengths and UUJ were left to sweat it out after Robin Hunter pulled one back.
