HOLDERS Offaly were bundled out of the Leinster under-21 football championship by neighbours Westmeath by 1-18 to 1-17 after extra time in the replay of their quarter-final at Tullamore on Saturday.

Westmeath wing back David McKinley and free-scoring forward Neil Dolan, plus Offaly's Cathal Daly and Mark Scanlon, were sent off in this tense game.

Yesterday in Cootehill, Cavan qualified for the final of the Ulster under-21 football championship when they overcame a strong Armagh side by 0-12 to 0-10.

In the All-Ireland Vocational Schools senior hurling final at Semple Stadium, Thurles, yesterday holders St Brigid's, Loughrea, had a runaway win over Mooncoin by 5-18 to 0-6. Loughrea led by 17 to 0-3 at half-time with Eric Glennon scoring the goal just before the break.
