Quite an amazing fact has come out of the row between the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) and cruiserweight Chris Henry. The former boxer underwent surgery to remove a blood clot after collapsing after a fight. The was no anaesthetist at ringside during the fight in June 1997 when the accident happened.

It appears that anaesthetists are at ringside for all major fights but, apparently, are not provided for lesser bouts. Such logic defies belief. Is it that the BBBC believes that low-profile fighters cannot hit as hard as the big names? Maybe it simply costs too much to provide a doctor for lower profile boxers?
