Three goals in a 10-minute spell at the start of the second half sent Cork on their way to an easy win over Tipperary at Templemore yesterday.

It was a first win for the new Cork manager Tom Cashman and he owed it largely to the inspirational work of Kevin Murray who scored two goals at full forward.

Tipperary made the early running, leading by 0-4 to 0-1 after five minutes and 0-7 to 0-4 at the end of the first quarter. However, Cork gradually asserted themselves and led at the interval 0-11 to 0-10.

Cork found their form in the second half and when they moved 3-12 to 0-11 ahead were never going to be caught by a lightweight Tipperary. Four minutes from time substitute John Murphy added their fourth goal for a comprehensive win.
