WRONG ANSWER is expected to relish the testing conditions at the Curragh on Sunday in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, according to connections.
Kevin Prendergast’s filly is already a Listed winner in heavy ground this season, but found quicker conditions against her behind Lillie Langtry on her last start. However, with all the rain in Ireland recently, James Kelly, racing manager to owner Lady O’Reilly, expects an improved performance this time around.
“She’s a very nice filly, she’s home bred,” said Kelly. “We are really looking forward to running her in the Moyglare.
“Lady O’Reilly raced the sire (Verglas) and the dam (Wrong Key) with Kevin Prendergast and this filly is a stakes winner already.
“We can’t wait for this weekend because unlike most horses she absolutely loves the heavy ground.”
Kelly says Chinese White is in “unbelievable” form ahead of this weekend’s Dance Design Stakes at the Curragh. Dermot Weld’s four-year-old oozed class in beating Roman Empress in the Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran on her last start.
Connections have an ambitious end-of-season plan for the filly that starts on Sunday – as long as the meeting beats the weather.
“She was supplemented yesterday to run in the Group Three at the Curragh on Sunday and she’s in unbelievable form,” said Kelly.
“The ground is soft to heavy at the moment, but the forecast is horrific before then. She’s a filly who likes cut in the ground, but I don’t think any horse likes it as soft as it is going to be.
“The plan is to run Sunday, then on to the Curragh for the Blandford Stakes and then she has the Prix de l’Opera on Arc weekend as an option.
“The l’Opera could be a very strong race this year so the same weekend as that we have the option of going for a Grade One over 10 furlongs at Belmont Park, the Garden City.
“She had a few little hold-ups this year and that is why we missed the Pretty Polly and a few other targets.
“We’re very excited about Sunday, but the ground is a concern. She’s a light-framed filly but she’s all class.
