Aidan O'Brien and Michael Kinane had mixed fortunes at Tipperary last night with Manhattan maintaining his unbeaten record but Dietrich suffering a shock defeat.

Manhattan made all in the Arthur Finnan Memorial EBF Race, holding on by a head from Shibl. "He's had a number of little setbacks, and will have a short break after a tough race in that ground (officially soft)," said O'Brien.

The trainer blamed himself for the defeat of the Storm Cat filly Dietrich in the Limerick Junction EBF Maiden. "She is very fast but I should not have run her on that ground," he said. The $2 million purchase looked sure to collect when stretching four lengths clear approaching the furlong pole, but she tired dramatically in the final 50 yards, and was headed in the final stride by the Austin Leahy-trained Mountain Greenery.
