BOHEMIANS midfielder, Derek McGrath, boosted his side's hopes of a European spot when he cracked home a real goal of the season contender to clinch the points at Finn Park on Saturday night.

McGrath's volley midway through the second half flew into the top corner, giving Finn Harps' goalkeeper, Darren Nash, no chance.

Bohemians deserved the victory, having dominated the game for over an hour, with Paul Doolin in excellent form. It was Finn Harps, however, who opened the scoring when James Mulligan fired home from a narrow angle on four minutes.

As Bohemians began to take control, they hit the woodwork twice and Nash saved from Derek Swan before the equaliser duly arrived.

On 23 minutes, John Ryan and Doolin combined with Doolin setting up Swan at the back post for an easy tap in.

After a lively first half, McGrath's goal was the highlight of a disappointing second period although Mulligan should have equalised, but his lob was saved by David Henderson.
