LUCK did not go UCD's way for a second consecutive day as they went down 1-0 to Magee College, Derry, in their Group Four match of the Collingwood Cup at Galway.

Donal McAteer broke the deadlock 42 minutes into the first half when he met a cross from Damian McCauley to score from close range.

UUJ, who won on the first. day 3-0, repeated the scoreline against Maynooth College in Group Two. Midfielder Jim McCluskey opened the scoring after 10 minutes, and this lead was extended after 19 minutes when David Patton scored. McCluskey got his second in the 77th minute.

TCD kept up their good form when they defeated QUB 5-1, due in large measure to a hat-trick from Stuart Woods, in their Group One clash. Their first goal was the result of a free kick on the edge of the area by Ray O'Malley. Their second, after 27 minutes, came. from a volley from David Battigan from six yards. Goal number three came in the 33rd minute from Woods who volleyed home From six yards, and he completed the job in the second half with a close header and a penalty.

Queens got a consolation .goal in the 75th minute when Declan Cooley was accurate with his spot kick.

St Mary's, Belfast, defeated Royal College of Surgeons 2-1 in Group Three. The opening score for St Mary's came after 15 minutes from Sean Tully. Michael Dullin, the St Mary's goalkeeper, scored an own goal when he stepped over the line with the ball. John Fleming got the winner on 80 minutes.

UCG returned to winning ways in Group One when they defeated UCC 2-0. The goals came from James Joyce and Shane O'Loughlin.
