Colleges football Leinster quarter-finals: Reigning champions St Patrick's, Navan, lost both their Leinster and All-Ireland titles at Dr Cullen Park on Saturday as Knockbeg College exacted revenge for the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Meath college in last year's Leinster final. Knockbeg won by 0-11 to 1-5.

Also on Saturday, Good Counsel, New Ross, defeated Dublin champions Malahide at Broomfield by 0-6 to 0-4.

St Patrick's and Knockbeg were level at half-time, 1-2 to 0-5, with the goal coming from the Navan school's Kevin Mulvaney in the 16th minute.

The Carlow college finished the game stronger and in the last 20 minutes were able to pull away through the accuracy of David Conway and Laois senior forward Donie Conway.

With centrefield being dominated by Shane O'Neill, Knockbeg took a 0-11 to 1-5 lead by the end of the game to seal their semi-final berth.

The game at Broomfield was also tied at half-time but Good Counsel took the lead early in the second half through points from Pat Harley and Shane Roche. A Seán Hogan point kept Malahide's interest in the game alive but the Wexford side took advantage of a strong breeze to hold out for the victory.
