DESPITE SCORING a superb goal after five minutes by Brian McGeown, St Malachy's, Castlewellan were outplayed by Scoil Ui Chonaill, Cahirciveen at O'Moore Park on Saturday.

The Kerry school, with Declan O Leary in top form, raced into a 0-5 to 1-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The game's crucial score came two minutes into injury time in the opening half when Kerry midfielder Brian Hickey soloed 50 metres and buried the ball in the Down net. This gave Cahirciveen a half-time lead of 1-7 to 1-1.

Kerry stretched their lead in the opening minutes of the news half. However, for the next 20 minutes the game was dominated by both sets of defenders.

Then in a three minute spell the northern side scored three unanswered points and with five minutes remaining, only four points separated the sides.

However, the boys from Cahirciveen put in a storming finish to add three good points and finish comfortable winners.
