Dave Kearney of Galway driving range had the distinction of winning the final outing of the season of the Christy O'Connor jnr Oyster golfing society at Galway Bay last week. The scratch golfer had 38 points, which was enough for a one-point win over Donal Dooley, who claimed second place over his home course. Ballaghdereen's Declan McGarry (13) was third on 36 points, while the gross prize went to six handicapper Niall Kilroy of Enniscrone.

Meanwhile, the new season for the society will commence in October and there are only a few places remaining. Anyone interested should contact Suzanne Naughton on 091 529 609.
