A knee injury has ruled Scott Barron out of Ireland's Davis Cup team for the relegation tie against Monaco at Riverview on Friday.

Tommy Hamilton is deemed to have recovered from tennis elbow and is named in a five-man squad. The official team can number only four and a trial match is likely between George McGill and David Mullins. Meanwhile at their a.g.m. in Killarney yesterday the International Tennis Federation decided to experiment with a `no-ad' scoring system. The rule - which allows the next point to win a game when the score is deuce - will be tried out for two years in some Davis Cup and Fed Cup events.
