HOLDERS UCG are out of the competition despite hitting 11 goals against QUB in their Collingwood Cup group one encounter yesterday. They had cause to regret their defeat against Trinity on the opening day. Their goals came from Conor Killeen (4), Shane O'Loughlin (3), Sean O'Neill (2), Brian Leahy and James Joyce (1 each).

University of Limerick defeated Royal College of Surgeons 2-1 in group three. Lars Seeburg scored one for the Surgeons after 47 minutes, but UL hit back with two goals, both from the penalties, by captain Paul Mannion. Ivor Daly was brought down on both occasions.

The meeting DCU and Maynooth College proved to be an extraordinary match. Four DCU players got injured, but they could only bring on three substitutes. Midflelder David O'Brien scored for Maynooth after 65 minutes, but DCU levelled when Martin O'Gorman scored 10 minutes later. The game went to penalties and Maynooth won out, 3-1.
