PAUL GRIFFIN confirmed his considerable potential with an emphatic third round stoppage of Wolverhampton featherweight Carl Allen last night at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff.
Griffin started with a rush, throwing good combinations to Allen's head and body. The Midlands boxer was intent on boxing behind a stiff left jab, but Griffin frequently beat him to the punch. Griffin's in and out style frequently caught Allen off balance but he still managed to put in several good shots to Griffin's body.
The classy Dublin boxer caught Allen with a cracking left hook to the face in the third round that instantly drew blood from Allen's nose. Griffin stepped up the pace with a barrage of punches that left the referee little option but to step in and halt the fight in Griffin's favour.
