Golfer of years

Edenderry's Breda Skerritt has come out on top once again

Edenderry's Breda Skerritt has come out on top once again. She featured in this column last year when she shot a nett 58 to win a competition at Edenderry. That was the start of a remarkable run for someone only playing the game for 18 months. Skerritt went on to win the Golfer of the Year in 1998 and in the process reduced her handicap from 36 to 25. Now, one year later, she has brought her handicap down by a further seven shots to 18. And she has won the Golfer of the Year for the second year running.
