Limerick IT 0-18 UCC 1-13:DAVY FITZGERALD'S Limerick IT will contest a fourth Fitzgibbon Cup final in seven seasons this afternoon.

It was another Clare native, Bernard Gaffney, who was the scoring hero for LIT as his eight points helped to clinch victory against the 2009 champions.

UCC had started as favourites but LIT produced a disciplined display at the back and scored enough at the other end to claim a hard-fought win.

LIT, who led by 0-11 to 0-6 at half-time, were a mirror image of their manager in the closing stages, displaying a never-say-die attitude which took them over the line after UCC had drawn level in the final quarter.

Gaffney fired LIT 0-15 to 0-11 clear with 12 minutes remaining, but a superb goal from UCC full forward Luke O’Farrell hauled the Leesiders back into contention.

LIT inched ahead through three points from Galway’s Steven Lambert.
