Brian Hurley shines up front as Cork claim place in McGrath Cup decider

Full forward scores 1-6 for the second game in a row to help see off Waterford

Cork 1-18 Waterford 1-9

Cork qualified for the final of the McGrath Cup after their expected win over Waterford at Páirc Uí Rinn on Tuesday night.

Once again Brian Hurley led the way by scoring 1-6 for the second game running, while Dan Dineen contributed 0-4.

Waterford’s scores came from the impressive inside pair of Darragh Corcoran and young Tom O’Connell.

Cork led by 1-9 to 0-3 at half-time after Hurley fisted home a second-minute goal while Blake Murphy also caught the eye at centre forward.

They increased their advantage to 1-14 to 0-5 approaching the second water break, when Corcoran pounced on a loose ball to finish impressively with a low shot to the corner of the net,

Waterford competed well in the closing quarter though Cork were well on their way to victory.
