Westmeath Schools led 0-4 to 0-1 after 20 minutes and by 0-7 to 0-2 at the interval.
Westmeath School moved into a 0-10 to 0-3 lead by the end of the third quarter through points from a Michael Murray free, Shay Murtagh and David McCormack. With Westmeath failing to add to their tally, points from Farrell and Paddy O’Leary reduced the deficit, with Farrell landing the late goal.
