The absence of Marion Jones from the women's 200 metres final meant that the family medal haul accumulated by herself and her husband, CJ Hunter, will have to be limited for the time being. But with the gold medal going to fellow American Inger Miller, there was at least another case of keeping it in the family.

Her father, Lennox Millar, took the silver medal for Jamaica over 100 metres in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Miller Snr also coached his daughter up until the end of last year, but she's now under the direction of John Smith - the man who put Maurice Greene's career back on track. This result meant Smith coached three of the winners of the four sprint titles available in Seville.
