PAT EDDERY reached 150 wins for the season as the team behind Pertemps St Leger favourite Dushyantor enjoyed the ideal start to the classic meeting at Doncaster yesterday.

Supporters of the 3 to 1 St Leger favourite will take heart from the champion jockey elect's victory in Khalid Abdulla's colours on Eva Luna in the feature Stones Bitter Park Hill Stakes over the Classic trip.

It completed a double for the Saudi owner and trainer Henry Cecil who had earlier triumphed with Corradini, ridden by Kieren Fallon, in the Sitwell Arms Mallard Handicap.

Last time he rode Eva Luna at York Eddery produced a display that drew many plaudits but also a whip ban that, had the punishment been any greater than two days, would have ruled him out on Saturday.

But the fast improving filly did not need such forceful assistance yesterday as she made all the running to beat Time Allowed, only a head behind last time they clashed, by a length and three quarters.

She'll improve a lot again for this race," said Eddery. "She raced properly today, unlike at York when she was off the bridle. She stays really well so I was prepared to go out and make sure it was a true run race.

"The ground is riding perfect and there shouldn't be any excuses for any horse on this ground. Henry says Dushyantor is going very well and has improved since York."

In this form Cecil, due to return from the Keeneland Sales today, will be keen to bid for a four timer with Eva Luna, who holds an entry in the Prix Royallieu at Longchamp next month.

Connections consider the filly a Cup horse for next year and she could be sharing engagements with Corradini who took consolation for his unlucky run in the Ebor.

Third at York, the four year old started slowly but gradually responded to Fallon's rousting to beat Candle Smile with over a furlong to run and score by a length.

. Trainer John O'Shea was yesterday fined £450 and his horse Island Vision disqualified following an inquiry held by the Jockey Club's Disciplinary Committee.

Island Vision, the 9 to 2 favourite, won the Maid Marion Handicap Hurdle at Southwell on June 22nd, but following the race, a sample taken from the gelding revealed the prohibited substances phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone.

After considering the evidence, including statements from O'Shea and other witnesses, the Committee was satisfied that the source of the substance was. Equipalazone, which was being administered to another horse in the yard on veterinary advice.

The Committee accepted an admission from O'Shea that he was in breach of Rule 53 and imposed the fine upon him. Under Rule 180 (ii), the Committee disqualified Island Vision from the race, placing Nocatchim first, Dibloom second, Playful Juliet, third and Nordine Valley fourth.

. Following another inquiry trainer John Upson was fined £350 after being found to be in breach of Rule 53.

After the Trent Bathrooms Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter on May 30th a sample taken from Upson's Cats Run, pulled up in the race, was found to contain the prohibited substance isoxsuprine.

After considering the evidence including statements from Upson and other witnesses, the Committee was satisfied that the source of the substance was Navilox, which was being administered to the horse on veterinary advice.

The Committee accepted an admission from Upson that he was in breach of the rules and he was fined and Cats Run disqualified.
