Charlton centre-half Richard Rufus misses the Highbury clash as he begins a three-match ban following his opening-day sending-off against Newcastle. Chilean international defender Javier Margas makes his debut for West Ham after signing from Universidad Catolica for £2 million replacing Ian Pearce, who has a septic foot. Trevor Sinclair faces a late fitness test on a groin strain, but former Arsenal team-mates Ian Wright and John Hartson pair up in attack for the first time.

Tottenham manager Christian Gross has fitness doubts over three players, Ramon Vega (ankle), Nicola Berti (hamstring) and Moussa Saib (back). Longer-term injured players Steffen Iversen and John Scales hope to resume training next week.

Derby's Spencer Prior will have a late fitness test on a knee injury, as manager Jim Smith gives the big defender every chance of making his starting line-up. Steve Elliott and Rory Delap are possible replacements, while Smith may start Italians Francesco Baiano and Stefano Eranio, who impressed as substitutes last week.

Wednesday look set to keep faith with the same starting line-up which triumphed at Tottenham last week. Manager Danny Wilson was impressed with that 3-0 victory but is still without Ian Nolan (leg), Jon Newsome (ankle), Niclas Alexandersson (knee) and Jim Magilton (groin).

Nigel Quashie is set to make his Forest debut but manager Dave Bassett's other midweek signing, Andy Gray, is unavailable because his £200,000 transfer from Leeds United was registered after the deadline. Ian Woan, Chris Bart-Williams and Jon Olav Hjelde are still unavailable through injury.

Leeds manager George Graham is likely to name an unchanged side from Monday's 1-0 home win over Blackburn. He is still without shin injury victims Alan Maybury and Gary Kelly as well as David Robertson (knee). Portuguese midfielder Bruno Ribeiro is likely to replace Alfie Haaland.

French World Cup striker Stephane Guivarc'h has recovered from an ankle injury and is on standby for his first start for Newcastle since his £3.5 million summer transfer from Auxerre. New manager Ruud Gullit has still to name his team, but Guivarc'h played 45 minutes for the reserves in midweek and is likely to play some part.

Jamie Redknapp stands by to start his first Liverpool match for five months, after coming on as substitute last weekend in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal. Patrik Berger could miss out after playing in all the pre-season games and the two opening League matches.
