Poc Fada na hÉireann: Paul Dunne yesterday became the first Louth winner of the Poc Fada. Dunne completed the 5 km course on the Annaverna mountain in Cooley in 54 pucks.

He was followed in second place by Wicklow's Tom Finn, who took 55 pucks to complete the course.

Tipperary's Brendan Cummins also took 55 pucks to get to the finish, but came home in third place as his final effort landed 44 metres over the finish line - one metre shorter than Finn's effort.

Mark Gannon of Meath was fourth, with a total of 55 pucks and four metres. Last year's winner, Clare goalkeeper Davy Fitzgerald, had an off-day, finishing with 58 pucks.

Dunne and Finn won the Pairs All Ireland trophy, as they posted the lowest combined total. Almost 1,000 people attended the event.
