Dublin South 0-18 3-8 St. Mary's Enniscorthy:DUBLIN SOUTH had to survive three second-half goal strikes from St Mary's CBS, Enniscorthy, before scraping home to claim a place in the semi-final, at the Carlow CBS grounds yesterday.
Dublin South just about deserved their win but will be worried at the concession of goals in the 39th, 45th and fourth minute of injury-time. Those goals came from full forward Barry Carton, centre forward Mark Morris and midfielder Cathal Clince. Dublin South looked in control by half-time when they led 0-10 to 0-4, with goalkeeper Ger McManus, Oisín Cannon, Colm Farrell, Kevin O’Loughlin, Mark Shutte, Eoin Cronin and Seán McGrath in form. Highlight of the half was a point by O’Loughlin from a sideline cut.
Enniscorthy hit back magnificently in the second half. Carton’s goal left it 0-12 to 1-5, while Morris’s goal put them in front, 2-7 to 0-12. Dublin responded with a point from a free by McGrath before Peter Elliott stormed up the right wing to point his side in front. Shutte landed a point before a pointed free from McGrath was followed by a superb effort from Danny Sutcliffe.
Dublin South pulled 0-18 to 2-8 clear in injury-time but a goal by Clince left the minimum between the sides. However, Dublin South held on for victory.
