INTERMEDIATE FINAL/Cavan 0-11 Westmeath 2-5:CAVAN PRODUCED a spirited late comeback to give Croke Park its second draw of the day in the intermediate football final.
The Breffni side’s skipper Aisling Doonan led their late rally and her six-point contribution key. The Templeport star gave an exhibition of shooting, including a superb score from a sideline kick in the first half.
A brace of points from Ruth Kearney kept Westmeath in touch at the interval as they trailed 0-5 to 0-3 before Goals from Johanna Maher and Karen Hegarty put them in the driving seat.
Emma Morris fisted over to extend the lead to three but three points in the last five minutes courtesy of Darna Clerkin and Doonan (two frees) earned Cavan a draw.
