This game was perfectly illustrated in a two-minute spell that resulted in St Michael's first, and decisive, try that helped them into the quarter-finals in the Leinster Schools' Junior Cup at Donnybrook yesterday.

In the 15th minute, St Michael's created a gap in the De La Salle defence that right wing Gavin Doyle flew through. He was destined for the corner flag until the diminutive Philip O'Dowd cut him down and into touch.

St Michael's switched the play left and were stopped again but from a loose throw flanker James McCarthy went over for a try.

De La Salle were more than a match for St Michael's up-front. But, they were not as assertive behind.
