AMERICAN FOOTBALL:Dallas Cowboys defensive tackler Josh Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a one-car accident in which Jerry Brown, a member of the National Football League team's practice squad, was killed, police said.
The accident happened at 2:21 am local time on Saturday in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas. Brent, 24, was driving at a high speed when the vehicle hit a curb and flipped at least once. Police found Brown, 25, unresponsive at the scene and he was taken to the hospital, where he died.
“I am devastated and filled with grief,” Brent said in a statement. “I will live with this horrific and tragic loss every day for the rest of my life. My prayers are with his family, our team-mates and his friends at this time.”
