Despite shooting 23 wides, Cork Institute of Technology proved far too strong for Trinity College at Pilmore, near Youghal, yesterday.

The Cork college had booked their place in the second round against Waterford Institute of Technology by establishing a 4-3 to 0-2 interval lead in a game played in treacherous conditions.

A couple of goals from Willie Deasy and one each from Alan Cronin and Pat Dineen helped the Cork team to their half-time lead and when Cronin scored his second after 36 minutes, the game as a contest was well and truly over.
