Cork City yesterday confirmed their intention to carry out a further round of improvements to Turner's Cross in conjunction with the Munster FA. The required funding of £350,000 is now in place for the development of dressing-rooms and other facilities under the main stand at the ground, the installation and covering of seats at the St Anne's Park end, and some other general improvements.
The proposed work will help bring the ground up to the standard required by UEFA for use in European competitions and the plan is to continue the development over the coming years by installing floodlights.
Three Harp Lager FAI Cup first round matches which had been scheduled to take place on Sunday have now been re-fixed for Sunday next. The games concerned are the meetings of Swilly Rovers and Ashtown Villa, Leeds AFC and St Mochta's, and Clonmel Town and Everton. The Swilly Rovers and Clonmel Town games will kick-off at 2.0 with the Leeds match starting at 2.30.
